Take Advantage of Declining Gas Prices With a Mobile Franchise Opportunity

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

As the global economy sees some of its most volatile days in recent history, many markets have been slammed to and fro at the whims of dodgy investors, and one of the great industries suffering at the moment is oil. Over the last few months, oil stock has been sold and traded so erratically that some days have seen up to $5 changes in the price of a barrel.

Though this unbalanced time of trading is sprouting early gray hairs on the heads of investors and oil companies, it’s also producing a great number of smiles among car drivers. As crude oil prices shift, bounce, and drop, the effect of all that inconsistency has proven to be lower gasoline prices for American consumers. Though July saw the highest gas prices in American history, the last four months have born nothing but price cuts, leaving the national average gas price in November barely above $2, which is almost a 50% price reduction from the demoralizing peak of summer gas prices.

When prices dropped below the $3 mark a month or two ago, you could almost hear America sigh in relief. Those $4 gas prices undoubtedly took their toll on American consumers, but vehicle-based businesses perhaps felt even greater pressure. Individuals can cut back on auto usage, but businesses that make their money from transport or shipping can’t, which meant that there was no alternative to spending that extra money on fuel. So now that gasoline is back down to prices that haven’t been seen since the winter of 2006-07, there is every reason for such businesses to cheer.

In fact, with gas prices now so low, it may be the appropriate time to consider the purchase of a mobile franchise. A great business opportunity, mobile franchises offer all the potential income of their office-based counterparts, but without the overhead costs of renting a location and keeping mass amounts of stock on hand. Though there is no business without cost, these business opportunities are far less expensive than many other options, and here are a few of the better choices within this category of franchise.

1-800-DryClean

Working in conjunction with a local dry cleaner, this franchise business serves as the go-between, providing customers with the option to have their dry cleaning picked up, cleaned, and returned without them ever having to leave their homes. And with the easy-to-remember phone number directing business to a call center that then distributes work to each franchisee, finding business is fairly simple.

Future Stars Sports Photography

A part of the Pegasus School Images brand, Future Stars Sports Photographyis an excellent business opportunity for anyone interested in using their creativity to make kids look good for their parents. The franchise package comes equipped with all a franchisee needs to know about photography and the business, online franchise tools, business cards and envelopes, in-house graphic arts and bookkeeping departments, and a “no hassle guarantee” system that ensures client satisfaction.

Cartridge On Wheels

This home based business affords franchisees the opportunity to run an entire business out of the back of a van and gives clients the freedom to purchase printer and fax products where they’re most comfortable: their own office. The vans are professionally decorated to spotlight the business name, and franchisees receive exceptional classroom and on-the-job training, as well as semi-annual support visits and a complete operations manual.

Standard Paints Inc.-Wood Defender

For one of the lowest initial startup costs in the franchise industry, Standard Paints Inc.-Wood Defender franchisees become the owners of a simple business with an almost unlimited client base. Operating a one-man show, owners of this home business use specialized equipment to stain wood fences, increasing their curb appeal as well as their water resistance and adding years to each fence’s lifespan. Generally, franchisees see a 70% profit margin on each job.

Doody Calls

With a much needed sense of levity, Doody Calls attends seriously to the business of pet waste cleanup. Franchisees build a team of route workers who hit the town to visit client homes and scoop the dog doo that customers don’t have time or energy to attend to. Initial training is given to provide work from home franchisees with all they need to know about dog behavior, route development, business management, PR, and attaining community contracts.

ElizaJ

Founded by an entrepreneur with tons of previous experience in creating successful businesses, this latest expression of her business talent is the only one of its kind: renting out high quality portable restrooms for use in weddings and other special outdoor events. Delivery and setup are often performed by an employee while the franchisee focuses on developing relationships with wedding planners and other event planning industry professionals.

MaidPro

This business is a simple and successful one, in which the franchisee is responsible to work at home, hiring and managing employees, overseeing systems and procedures, and ensuring continued growth of the business. The business plan is fully established, complete with a company intranet, world-class marketing, an impressive software package, and cleaning methods bred out of an obsession with cleanliness. This mobile franchise is well on its way to being the next cleaning industry megastar.

Of course, choosing a business based solely on the price of its necessary resources (in this case, gasoline) is a little absurd, and that is in no way what this article is advocating, but if you were already interested in a business similar to any of these listed, then consider a mobile franchise alternative, which can save you money on overhead, provide great service to clients, and now save a great deal on gas as well.

There’s no telling what the future of gasoline prices will be, but we do know that for now, we have prices almost as good as they’ve ever been, so it may be time to take advantage of that.

What to Look Out For When Buying a Franchise

Friday, December 19th, 2008

An increasingly popular alternative to starting from scratch or buying an existing business is to buy a franchise. A franchise is a business relationship between a franchisor and a franchisee.

The franschisee agrees to pay the franchisor a certain sum of money for use of the business name or method of doing business or both, usually in the form of an initial fee and some agreed percentage of sales or similar.

The main advantage of starting a business by becoming a franchisee is that you are usually buying a tried and tested method for doing a particular business. Consequently, there should be a greater chance of success than with buying an existing business or starting from scratch.

The franchisor will dictate to varting degrees how the business should be run. Often this will include instructing and advising the franchisee on the product or service range, pricing policy, size and design of premises and sometimes even the style of uniform the employees should wear.

A good franchisor will also provide a back-up service giving advice where applicable on such aspects as management, training, merchandising, accounts, etc. Larger franchisors will usually offer advertising and sales promotion support.

The size of franchise businesses varies considerably. The initial cost of buying a franchise ranges from a few thousand upwards to half a million pounds. Franchising has not become so popular that most of the major clearing banks have set up specialist section to deal with finance applications from potential franchisees.

The main disadvantages of becoming a franchisee is that the business is never truly yours. As the franchisor lays down certain requirements which can be quite comprehensive, you can never run the business exactly as you want.

If the changing nature of your local business environment, this lack of control can have adverse effects on your business. Finally, you will never be able to keep all of you profits, as most franchise agreements involve some form of continuing payment to the franchisor related to sales or profits.

Taking up a franchise can be an attractive starting point for those entering into business for the first time. But beware: not all franchise operations are the same. As a guide to investigating a franchise use the checklist in my website.

How You Can Know If a Franchise Will Work in Your Market

Friday, December 19th, 2008

You must take a long hard look at the product or service you would be selling as a franchisee. Before you invest you need to know if a franchise will work in your market. Study the market for the product or service in your local region and determine if you can find a feasible location for a franchise in your area.

Your livelihood as a franchisee will depend upon your ability to sell your product or service to customers within your region. If you can’t sell the product in your area, no matter how successfully it might sell somewhere else, you won’t make any money. Perform an honest evaluation of the sales potentials of the franchises that you are looking at purchasing: Do they offer high-quality products and services that will appeal to your customer base? Will the products still sell five years from now? What kind of competition can you expect? Can you find a suitable location for your business in your area?

Check sales data of similar or related businesses in your region to determine how your franchise might do. Your Chamber of Commerce, local banks, and trade associations might be helpful in this regard, as will the Small Business Administration and the Department of Commerce. Consult national and regional business or trade publications to determine how the particular type of franchise business has performed in your area. Find out what industry analysts have to say about the future, such as industry trends, economic forecasts, and the future demand for the product you would sell as a franchisee.

Many people today are purchasing franchises designed to appeal to the baby-boom market, especially those in the service industries; this is apparent with the growth of the non-medical home care franchises. New business areas now being tapped by franchising include time saving home and personal services (like maid services and lawn maintenance), child-care services, health/beauty/fitness goods and services, home repair and improvement, and business services like banking, consulting, and financial planning. In today’s economy, service businesses are hot, and demand for recreation, entertainment, and travel-related products, as well as for automobile and truck rental and aftermarket services, will continue.

Management consulting, tax services and accounting, computer-support services, and financial planning promise to be big sellers among the business service industries. List your own specific knowledge of your region when analyzing the local market for a given product. Note regional trends and tastes and the economic condition and outlook for your area.

If the particular franchise in which you are interested requires a retail location, then check to see if you can find any viable locations available in your area. If the franchise business is home based or mobile then location is not an issue but other demographics will still be important. For example, if your product or service is targeting the senior market what is the population base and income level in your territory? Or, if you are targeting children what is the number of the age group and income level of the parents in your territory?

Most important step of all is to make sure that the franchisor distributes products and services of the highest possible quality.

As you consider the franchisors product and its market, these are just some of the questions you need to answer:

· How long has the product been on the market?
· Is it a proven seller or a brand-new innovation?
· Could it become obsolete?
· Is it a fad or gimmick product?
· Will it sell a year from now? Five years? Ten years?
· Is the market already over saturated such as with the sub sandwich franchises?
· Has the market peaked and is now on the downward trend such as with food preparation franchises?
· Is it a necessity or a luxury item?
· Is the product’s appeal seasonal?
· Does the product have broad appeal or a specifically defined market, e.g., tourists, children, senior citizens, the wealthy?
· Is the product exclusive to the franchisor?
· Is the product manufactured by the franchisor or by a third party that could potentially go out of business?
· What is the reputation of the manufacturer?
· Are the materials, products, and techniques I use and sell as a franchisee of a good quality?
· Is the population base high enough to ensure enough potential customers to support the business at a successful level?
· Will I be able to sell the product or service at a competitive price?
· What kind of competition will I face in my territory?
· Is the location of my franchise important?
· Are there locations available in my area and would the lease price be affordable?
· What kind of construction or improvements would be required?

Next step is to ask the franchisor for the names of franchisees who work in territories with a similar population and demographic makeup to your territory. You want to find out how successful these franchises are with the concept.

Once you make a formal application for the franchise, most franchisors will conduct a demographic study of your territory which should include traffic patterns of possible retail locations. These studies can provide you with additional information that will be helpful in evaluating several similar franchise opportunities.

Now that you have taken a look at yourself and evaluated your region’s marketplace, the next step is to find out everything you can about your potential business partner – the franchisor.

Opening a Franchise – Carbon Copies For Success

Friday, December 19th, 2008

When you have a great business that has been successful, and you want to keep growing, you may want to expand by opening a franchise. Not only are you increasing your wealth you are offering someone else an opportunity to be successful.

The better known your business is, the more it is worth. If you do not feel that your business is as well known as it could be, flood the market with advertising. For instance, if you have a tattoo parlor, you will want to get advertisements to the public, with samples of your work. Canvas your customers; see if they will be willing to be in ads featuring your work. Local celebrities will be a plus to your ads. You could offer to pay them with another tattoo.

Contact all of your suppliers; see if they can supply everyone in your franchise. You want to be sure that you can keep the supplies consistent; you also want the set up of the stores to be consistent. The point of a franchise is to be able to walk into one of the shops, where ever it is located and get the same service, quality and pricing as the original shop.

Set up guidelines, make it clear what is expected from a buyer, be explicit in what you want and be just as explicit in what you will not tolerate. Spell out how they maintain a franchise and how they could loose a franchise. There is nothing too small to note, this is your business and your reputation you are dealing with. If you get stuck with a buyer who decides to do it their way and not yours, you are in trouble; your entire business could be ruined.

If you need money now, like I mean in the next hour, try what I did. I am making more money now than in my old business and you can too, read the amazing, true story, in the link below. When I joined I was skeptical for just ten seconds before I realized what this was. I was smiling from ear to ear and you will too.

Tips to Find the Perfect Location For Your Franchise Store

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Create a Plan
Before beginning your search for the perfect location, make a list of what you do and do not want. Make sure to take into account not only what you want personally, but any requirements the franchisor may have. It is also a good idea to make a budget plan early so you know exactly how much you can afford to pay in rent.

Think Visibility
One of the most important location factors for a franchise is visibility. Even if you choose a great building on a popular street, if your sign is too small or your business is hidden then you may lose potential customers. Make sure your location is either highly visible from a main street, or provides the option for you to have a large, prominent sign for your store.

Target Market
Having your target consumers nearby will always be helpful to your business. For example, if your franchise sells school supplies, being near a school or popular residential area will be very beneficial. Try to determine your target market in advance by researching what who typical are, and be sure to find out what information your franchisor can provide.

Drive by Traffic
Having your store on a well-traveled street will help your business. Make sure to ask your potential landlord for data on the amount of drive by and foot traffic. Also take notice of how fast the traffic is actually moving. If the speed limit is high and there are no traffic lights very close, your potential customers may drive right by your store.

Employee Access
While looking at locations always ask yourself, “can employees access the location easily?” If candidates will have to make a large commute to work then you may miss out on highly qualified employees. Another important factor to consider is whether or not there is a large and dependable employee market nearby.

Franchisor Requirements
Do not forget to look at your franchisor’s requirements, restrictions, and recommendations before going to look at potential locations for your store. Franchisors want you to succeed and will usually offer you quality advice on what sort of location works well for your business. They may also have certain size requirements or legal restrictions that you have to follow.

“I wanted to send a special thank you to you and The Tutoring Center franchise support team. When Collin and I made the decision to purchase a franchise, we went out and did a lot of research: books, blogs, magazines, government sites, etc. Once we narrowed our decision down to an after school learning program, we investigated your competitors and found them wanting! Yes, Kumon may be cheap and Sylvan may be big, but as Goldilocks put it, “This one is just right.” Rather than being pressured to purchase, I felt empowered to make a decision. We walked away excited and eager to join. Thank you for giving us the privilege to join this growing team.

Opening a Franchise – Dos and Don’ts

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

When you’re considering opening a franchise you need to understand before hand what you’re getting into. There are many reasons that franchises can be a great option for a new business. All of the market research, ad design and business planning will be done for you, which can make starting it up a breeze. Following are some tips on what to do and what to avoid.

- Do keep your costs in mind. When you’re opening a franchise you’ll typically have a detailed list of all the expenses needed to open the store. Keep in mind, however, that there might be additional costs. Depending on where you’re opening your store or restaurant there might be additional property or community taxes to pay. Make sure you have a decent cushion to absorb extra costs that might come up.

- Do read your agreement. I know the franchise agreement is long. I know some of it seems a little to full of legal jargon. However, not only are there important rules to follow in there – there’s good advice. Be sure that you’ve read and understood the agreement before signing anything.

- Don’t get frustrated. Realize that most businesses don’t take off the second you open them. It can take some time to get the word out about your new store. Be patient. The people will come, if you run an effective business and provide them with a quality product.

If you follow this simple dos and don’ts opening a franchise can be a great business venture that will keep you flush with cash for the rest of your life.

Opening a Franchise – The Ultimate Opportunity

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

The first step to opening a franchise is figuring out whether or not it is the right move for you. First of all, it is a way to open your own business without having to start from scratch.

If you find that you’re sick and tired of working for someone else, this could be the right move for you. You are pretty much completely free to do whatever you want. This probably sounds pretty good to you right now. That’s because it is good. It’s a good move for anyone wanting to be financially independent.

So once you decide that a franchise is right for you, you need to scope out your competition. You need to make sure you are not going to open a franchise that has too much competition in the area. You want something that is unique so that everyone will want what you have and not go to the other guy that is more familiar to them.

If money is an issue in starting your franchise, there are financing opportunities available. Check to see if your franchise is eligible for financing. If not, you should be able to get a loan for your franchise fees and your startup costs.

The most important factor here is that you choose a business that you will have fun running. There is no point in doing it if you are not going to enjoy it. It is hard to be passionate about something that you feel you can’t enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it, you won’t stick to it. So do your homework, open up your dream franchise, and have fun!

Limitless Opportunities in Low Cost Franchise Businesses

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

These days, it’s hard for people to get their minds off their finances. Stock markets around the world are down to record lows, American banks seem to be folding one after the next, and even oil has lost its value in recent weeks. For some people, it’s almost come time to think about starting a UTM account (Under The Mattress), because it may just be more secure.

Of course, that’s a bit of economic tongue in cheek, but in all honesty, people around the country, and the globe, are scared. For many, this is not even remotely the time to consider investing in the purchase of a business. And even for those entrepreneurs with good investment opportunities before them, it may still be unwise to spend a great sum of money on certain investments until the economy recovers.

Fortunately, you don’t have to utterly break the bank in order to purchase a franchise business. Though it seems like the initial purchase price of any business would have to be high in order to turn a good profit in the future, that’s not true. There are many franchises in valid and profitable industries that come with very reasonable price tags. Here are just a few of them.

Home Services

The story that many economists and business experts are telling is that when home sales are down, home services are up, because people want to make the most of the home they’re in. And because many home service franchises are mobile, work from home businesses, the purchase price and overhead costs are very low.

Carpet Creations & Flooring of America is a great example of a cost-effective home base business. For just under $20,000, a new franchisee can own and operate a flooring dealership without the common hassle and associated expenses of having to manage a warehouse, sales floor, and staff. With little more in hand than a book of carpet and flooring samples, franchisees meet with clients in their homes to decide on the right flooring for them. They place a simple order, and the carpet is delivered and installed immediately. The franchisor helps each dealer learn the ins and outs of the industry, practice the best sales tactics, and develop a keen marketing strategy for his area. And because franchisees are connected to a national name, they get better pricing than anyone.

For those who like to get their hands dirty, however, there is also great business opportunity with The Grout Doctor, the standard-setting name in the aftermarket grout repair and maintenance industry. Recognized by both Entrepreneur and Franchise Business Review as a leader in franchising, and more specifically low cost franchises, The Grout Doctor provides new franchisees with all the training necessary to succeed, equips them with both professional tools as well as products for sale to customers, and keeps in constant communication with each franchisee to ensure continued growth. And all of this costs a very minimal $20,000-35,000.

Business Consultancies

Under normal circumstances, business consultation is a rather successful industry because businesspeople everywhere are interested in making the most of their investment. Under tight economic conditions, that thirst for success becomes even more acute, as the danger of failure pushes businesses on. For that reason, business consultants remain in high demand. And one great example of this strong demand is for Padgett Business Services franchisees, who specialize in helping clients with their business finances.

Touted as one of the best accounting firms and franchise businesses in operation today, Padgett Business Services helps clients with payroll services, accounting, tax preparation, and a variety of other financial issues. And as franchisees help clients, the franchisor helps franchisees by providing a wide array of support, including help to continue educational pursuits. Though it costs more than some other franchises, Padgett Business Services still sports a relatively inexpensive price of only $89,000 or less.

Vending Distribution

By far one of the cheapest business opportunities available, vending is also one of the most cost-effective, lucrative, and consistent business possibilities. Widely accepted as a recession-resistant business, it’s an easy-to-operate model that virtually anyone can profit from at a lesser cost than almost any other kind of operation.

Allstate Investment Group is a perfect example of all of this. Costing as low as $9000 initially, this franchise is capable of turning an annual profit of $170,000 for as little as 18 hours of work per week. Estimates say that the average vending franchise owner only works one hour a week for every machine that he operates, and in this industry, it’s said that the average hour of work equates to an earning of just over $70. But with Allstate Investment Group, that potential earning increases because their machines are custom designed to carry both snacks and beverages, which is said to drastically increase sales potential.

Contrary to popular belief, however, vending is not restricted to food products. The Back Rubber, for instance, is a home business built on pay-per-use leather massage chairs: a profitable source of income for many. Located at malls and shopping centers around the country, these chairs offer passers-by the chance to retreat from the stresses of shopping for 15 minutes or so, all for only a few dollars. All franchisees have to do is find new locations for their chairs and make the weekly rounds to collect their earnings. It’s simple, there’s very little overhead, and it can cost as little as $7000 at the outset.

Brave Business

Of course, looking at a franchise list and acknowledging the plausibility of a business endeavor is easy enough, but stepping out and making the purchase, even if it’s an inexpensive one, is a completely different ballgame. With a more complete understanding of how realistic profiting from a cheap franchise is, carefully analyze your financial status and decide if taking a business leap is logical for you right now. If it’s not reasonable now, don’t do it. But if it is, don’t hesitate to put fears aside and step up to the plate.

Is a Children’s Small Business Franchise Right For You

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Recently, kid-targeted businesses were recognized as a recession-resistant industry. Of course, it’s hard to nail down just what the kid industry is because its fingers reach into virtually every other market.

Whatever you define as the “kid industry,” the reason that it stays vibrant in the face of recession is simple: people with kids will almost universally sacrifice their own comfort to provide for their children. One recent FOXNews article quoted Candace Corlett, president of the WSL Strategic Retail consulting firm, as saying, “some people will cut their medications before they’ll cut spending on the kids,” and New York toy consultant Chris Byrne says that, even in the midst of recession, “Santa’s still gonna fly this year.” Professionals agree: there is no stopping this industry.

Should You Work with Kids?

Entrepreneurs looking for their next big break would be prudent to keep children in mind as a viable business opportunity. However, as any respectable businessman, parent, or person in general would agree, the fact that there is a service to be offered and money to be made in a market is not enough reason to undertake a business endeavor, and this is especially true when it comes to kids. It takes a special brand of person to work with kids and do so well and without losing your mind. The question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you are that type of person.

Here are some more specific questions you can ask to help determine if this is the field for you, and if so, what kind of franchise business might be the best use of your talents.

1) Do You Enjoy Kids Or Just Tolerate Them?

Business owners in almost all industries agree that loving what you do is an essential ingredient to any successful franchise purchase. This is also true with children, because kids have the innate ability to know who genuinely likes them, and they gravitate toward those people. Unlike many adults, kids can’t be tricked with a façade of politeness, and parents will not pay good money to people that their kids don’t like.

2) Do You Like All Children Or Just Your Own?

Many people think they like kids in general, when in fact they just like their own. There’s obviously nothing wrong with enjoying your own children, but unless you have a natural affinity and compassion for kids in general, that will not be enough to get you through every business day.

3) Can You Take Charge?

Of course, this isn’t a question of dominance, but it is a question of governance. When working directly with kids, do you have the strength of character to define boundaries and behavior regulations and stick to them, issuing appropriate discipline when necessary? That overly nice uncle that gives in to every whim, teary eye, or scowl may be a child’s favorite, but he’s not doing his nieces and nephews any service and he’s not ready to operate a business with kids. You have to love kids, but for their own good, you also have to be the boss.

4) How Childlike Are You?

People who work with kids see the world from a slightly different perspective, and the rest of the world can see it. Many people mistake it for childishness, but being childlike is not a lack of maturity; it’s the ability to see even the most mundane aspects of life with a degree of imagination and playfulness that can turn even homework and chores into a game from time to time. The best children’s franchise owners are able to make anything and everything fun. It sounds odd, but can you think like a child?

5) Are You Willing To Work With Parents, Too?

Ultimately, the responsibility for a child’s safety, health, development, and education falls to his parents, and the vast majority of them take that seriously. You will only succeed in business, and for your kids, if you can humbly partner with their parents.

Small Business Options

There are probably a hundred different ways to answer the sum of those questions, but depending on your answers, there are a number of different franchises in the children’s sector to choose from. Below are snapshots of just a few of those.

CompuChild

The perfect home based business for fans of younger kids, this operation takes franchisees right into preschools and daycare centers to give kids a firsthand experience with cutting edge technology. All training and equipment is provided, and because franchisees supply all the teaching and tools, finding client schools is a breeze.

Guard-A-Kid

Good for entrepreneurs who care about kids but don’t want to run a daycare, Guard-A-Kid helps parents create ID packages for their children that will help expedite police recovery should the unthinkable ever happen. Working from mall kiosks, overhead costs are small while an 80% profit margin and a high degree of personal satisfaction make it all worth it.

i9 Sports

This home business has developed a fun and simple system for building children’s sports leagues in specified territories. As part of this perfect work from home business for sports enthusiasts and kids-at-heart, franchisees have fun and teach sportsmanship while administrative tasks are governed by easy-to-use software.

Kumon

Possibly the king of the tutoring industry, Kumon is the #1 tutoring franchise and the #4 overall franchise in the world. Based on the presupposition that every child has unending potential, this business has developed a tutoring system that promotes learning through constant practice, and this system benefits most from a franchisee who cares deeply about the educational success of his students.

Offering a wide variety of opportunities for different kinds of kid-friendly entrepreneurs, small business franchising has something for virtually everyone. As you learn more about what each business opportunity has to offer, consider how well your answers to the above questions match with the strengths and missions of each business you come across. Everything comes down to finding the franchise that you can benefit most from.

Favorite Automotive Franchise Business Opportunities

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

One of the industries that everyone is cheering as a recession-resistant market these days is the auto repair industry, and in fact, they’re right. When recession hits, spending decreases; this, in the world of cars, means that fewer new cars are purchased. If people are buying fewer new autos, logic would demand that they’re keeping their old cars, which will constantly have to be repaired and maintained, which is very good news for businesspeople in the auto industry. If you’re not already a part of it, here are some franchises that are perfect business opportunities to get you in on this booming market.

1. Maaco

With a proven track record of recession-resistance over the last 36 years of operation, Maaco has proven itself to be a sturdy business opportunity for anyone with the ambition to operate a franchise. Currently there are over 500 locations in the United States and Canada, performing a wide range of cosmetic repairs on automobiles throughout the North America. No previous auto experience is needed, and with financing available, the $75,000 initial cost is not hard to afford.

2. Fleet Services International

Fleet Services International is looking for qualified Master Dealers to operate distribution centers in protected territories, selling automotive parts and supplies to a wide array of corporate, government, and business car fleets. Comprehensive training and support are available, potential locations are found ahead of time, and all products for sale come from mainstream, trustworthy name brands.

3. Kar Kosmetics

For 35 years, this Delaware company has been doing quality automotive pin-striping with exceptional precision and effectiveness. Their custom painting equipment gets an 89% paint-to-surface adhesion rate, the paint can be used in temperatures from 30 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and everything is dry in seconds. And with all equipment capable of being packed into the back of a personal vehicle, this home based business can easily go anywhere the clients are.

4. Big O Tires

For over 40 years, Big O Tires has been one of the big names in tire retail, selling some of the biggest names in the auto tire industry and providing one of the most comprehensive warrantees available. Franchises are located in 19 US states and Canada, totaling over 500 locations dedicated to selling excellent products, providing unrivaled customer service, and serving their respective communities. And full training and national advertising are always provided for each franchisee.

5. Honest-1 Auto Care

As the name of this franchise business implies, honesty, value, and support are the central values of Honest-1 Auto Care, an auto repair franchise dedicated to addressing the growing need for auto maintenance with integrity. What Honest-1 Auto Care has recognized is that the average client bringing the family car in for repairs is female, so they have designed their centers appropriately, offering décor, food and beverages, entertainment, and child play areas that all cater primarily to women. And with a comprehensive training and support system, it’s clear that this company is interested in making franchisees comfortable as well.

6. Dr. Vinyl

There are many auto businesses that specialize in repairing and enhancing the exterior of a car, but few concentrate their efforts on the interior, and even fewer do it with the success and track record of Dr. Vinyl. This mobile franchise goes on-site to repair all kinds of interior materials, from vinyl to hard plastics, as well as install dash kits, fit gold trim, and remove small dents. Franchisees have the freedom to determine their own schedules, perform different tasks day in and day out, and attain financial independence, all with a strong franchisor to back them up.

7. Cornwell Quality Tools

An old-timer in the auto industry, Cornwell Quality Tools has been producing top-quality tools since 1919 and has never let up on their commitment to quality, both for their dealers and for the dealers’ clients. Aside from their long experience, this business for sale proudly touts no royalties, no ongoing franchise fees, free catalogs and monthly flyers, a customer service call center, 24/7 online ordering, and strong business management software.

8. Interstate Batteries

Interstate Batteries has long been known for its commitment to producing only the most quality automotive batteries and selling them by the truckload for the last 50 years, but it has done equally well as a retail franchise, selling a full assortment of batteries. Each franchise reports average sales of $991,000/year to retail and commercial clients, sports an impressive 98% customer satisfaction rating, and has an unending supply of clients. And each franchisee is taught by exceptionally gifted and knowledgeable franchisors, ensuring the continued success of the name.

9. Collision On Wheels

Helping clients with a wide variety of minor dings, scrapes, scratches, and dents, Collision On Wheels franchisees work from home, driving the company vehicle to the customer’s location to make his life infinitely easier. There is no need to have prior experience in the industry, skilled trainers are ready and waiting to teach new franchisees everything they know about business and auto repair.

10. Racing Limos

This may not be a repair franchise, but there’s no denying that limos are a fun addition to a night on the town, and twice as fun when they’re decorated like racecars and police cruisers. Franchisees receive full training, a complete operations manual, a marketing package, website support, and the opportunity to run the business on a full or part-time basis; whichever works better for them. Furthermore, each franchise owner has the opportunity to add extra cash by posting advertisements on the sides of the cars. All in all, this is a lucrative business opportunity.

Clearly, there are many ways to profit from the auto repair market with a franchise business, even when recession looms overhead. Whether you’ve worked in the market before or not, take a closer look at these favorites of the industry and see if any of them hold promise for your business future.

Is Network Marketing Or a Franchise Opportunity Best For Achieving Financial Freedom?

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

More than ever before, people are taking charge of their financial future by venturing outside of the corporate world and starting their own business. While this can secure a person’s future, not all business opportunities will produce this desired result. With so many opportunities available, it can be difficult to make the right choice.

The most popular and most profitable business opportunities have always been in network marketing and franchising sectors. When choosing the structure for your business, compare the pros and cons of both models so you’ll end with the opportunity that best matches your skills and goals for the future.

Money

Every business requires capital, or money, to start. The amount of capital needed depends on the type of business. A franchise usually requires the most significant capital funds, thus making the risk greater because there is more to lose. The initial monetary investment usually covers the lease of a space for the business, the inventory, business equipment needed, and enough reserves for paying employees for at least the first six months to a year.

A network marketing startup requires a low initial capital investment, sometimes you can even start this type of business for as little as $100.00. This is usually because entrepreneurs following this business model typically work at home and don’t require a costly storefront location. These businesses are most often sole proprietorship operations, meaning they are a one-person business. Not having employees to pay allows the entrepreneur to avoid the high costs of employing people. In most of these opportunities, entrepreneurs don’t even need to invest in inventory or expensive equipment either.

Training

Both network marketing and franchise business structures provide excellent resources for training, including initial startup training, ongoing product training, and general training on how to market and run a business. Many experts believe that networking models provides entrepreneurs with a higher level of support than franchises do.

This is because other parties within this business structure have a stake in the achievement of everyone within the downline or business. The level of success depends on the individual entrepreneur and the commitment made to training and working the business. When one is successful, others are successful as well.

Balance

In the opening stages of any business, it’s difficult to balance work and life. Since you have control over the flexibility of your work hours, more support from other network marketers in your program, and a proven plan that will guide you to success, operating a business through networking usually provides greater freedom in this area than a franchise opportunity does.

Because of the larger capital investment of a franchise opportunity, the competitive marketplace, and a lower percentage of profit, you might not make as comparable a return on your investment as you might with network marketing during the same amount of time in business. After a while, a franchise does allow you to remove yourself from the daily running of the business upon hiring qualified employees.

Whether you choose network marketing or a franchise opportunity, just by taking the step toward self employment puts you one step closer to a bright financial future.
