7-Eleven to Franchise Stores by 2012

Dallas-based convenience store operator 7-Eleven plans to convert most company-owned and -operated stores into franchise operations by 2012, according to the Dallas Business Journal. The chain launched its conversion plan about two years ago and has converted 4,100 stores–75 percent of its 5,600 store base–to franchises so far. 7-Eleven store managers were offered the first opportunity to franchise their stores. The c-store chain has subsequently opened up the franchise offer to the public.
