The economy is slowing and people are clenching their paychecks tight to their chest with both hands, but one company sees this plight as opportunity.
Lubbock-based NiteTime Décor, which creates custom lighting portraits that incorporate landscape and architectural features of the home, has focused its expansion plans on the Houston metroplex and surrounding areas such as Cypress.
Jim Felhauer, VP of Nite Time Décor, said their business model allows established area landscape artists to add the Nite Time Decor concept to their existing business, giving them full service training, marketing and product availability. And customers trust companies they already do business with, he said.
“We find that as the economy weakens, companies are losing revenue and downsizing, so people aren’t spending as much money on landscaping,” said Felhauer. “We’re a bolt-on franchise that could add some bottom line revenue to their business.”
Felhauer said they have clients in both the new construction and after-market lighting sector who want to enhance beauty, expand living spaces and promote safety and security.
“What we’re really seeing is that people are in a nesting mode, so as the housing market is slowing, people are looking into what they can do to make their home better now,” he said. “This is a nice way to do an upgrade to your home without doing an entire remodel.”
Christmas Decor, the premier division of The Décor Group, was named a 2008 Top Ten Home Improvement Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine and AOL.com. The company has been steadily expanding throughout the nation from Texas into Missouri, New York, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
