How to Start a Hotel Franchise

Friday, October 31st, 2008

You may be interested in starting your own hotel business. Instead of just trying to open your own hotel, you may want to open a franchise so that you can take advantage of using a trusted name in the hotel industry. A hotel franchise can be a great opportunity. Tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world. Travelers will always be in need of places to stay. However, you probably wonder how to start a hotel franchise. There are many things to take into consideration when starting a hotel franchise. Below is a short discussion of a few of the factors to consider.

Find the Right Franchise

The first step in figuring out how to start a hotel franchise is deciding which franchise to pick. There are many different hotel franchises that are available to you. Finding which franchise is the best fit for you situation will take some work; you definitely will not want to just sign up for the first hotel franchise you run across. There are many factors to consider. Some of these factors are franchise fee, popularity of hotel, national versus regional appeal, how many other franchises are in the area you want to be in, and benefits offered by the franchisor.

There are many different places you can find information about hotel franchises. You can start by requesting information from each individual franchisor. You can also seek information from a magazine or Internet site that focuses on hotel franchises. Also, if you know any other hotel franchise owners, you should ask them for advice on which hotel would be good for you.

Location

After you decide which hotel franchise to open, the next step will be to find the right location. There are many factors that you will need to consider. One thing to consider is your own mobility. If you cannot move from your current location, then you will have to find a franchise that will allow you to open the hotel in the area in which you currently live.

If you do have the ability to open a hotel franchise anywhere, you may want to consider opening it in an area where tourism is big. This will give you a good base of potential customers to attract. Also, you will want to find an area where there is still demand for a hotel. In some areas, there are so many hotels that your startup may not be able to survive in that area.

The franchisor will likely have some advice and will be able to help you decide where to open up your hotel.

Advertise

Once you open up your hotel franchise, you must attract customers, otherwise your business will fail. At the beginning of your franchise, you will likely work closely with the franchisor in deciding how to advertise your hotel. You might also want to contact travel magazines and see if you can advertise in those.

Enjoy the Work

Do not get too caught up in the ins and outs of how to start a hotel franchise. It is hard work; however, you should have fun doing it as it can be a very enjoyable and profitable business.

You Know What – Franchising is Not For Everyone

Friday, October 31st, 2008

The number of folks that dream of someday owning their own business was once estimated at nearly 35%, but starting and owning a small business is a life changing event. In fact, not only is starting a small business a life changing but new business owners go into huge debt and spend all their life savings just to risk the chance of going for it.

Worse, the risk of small business failure amongst new businesses is something like 50% in the first three years and 75% first five years. Why do small businesses fail? The number one cause is undercapitalization, next is lack of expertise or business experience. Maybe it is no surprise then that Franchises enjoy a much lower failure rate.

Of course, franchised outlets are not without failures, the failures that do occur are just much less than other small businesses. Franchising may have lots of advantages such as better financing terms, more evolved business model, comprehensive training and on-going assistance and expertise, but nothing is guaranteed.

It has been said that owning a business is not for everyone, indeed, nothing could be more true, and just like this truth is observable, folks also need to realize that franchising is not for everyone. A true entrepreneur may not like working in the strict environment of a franchise organization.

Once someone signs a franchise agreement they are obligated for the term of that franchise contract to follow the Franchisor’s program, that is mandatory otherwise they could be terminated and lose all their investment monies. So, whereas it is true that franchises have lower failure rates than other small businesses, nothing including franchising is sure thing. Please consider this.

Business Opportunities at Las Vegas RV Parks

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Las Vegas is one of the favorite American cities. Inevitably, once visitors spend a few days here, they’re ready to start planning their next trip. There’s always the designer shop they never had a chance to set foot in or the show they couldn’t get tickets for. Our children flew my husband and I out to Las Vegas in August. We rocked halfway through the nights but missed seeing the old downtown and the Hoover Dam. Even worse, we arrived too late to see the aquarium at Mandalay Bay. And while we were mesmerized by Cirque du Soleil’s O, we didn’t have enough time to see another Cirque performance.

This fall when we return for round 2, we’re driving out in our fifth wheeler. We’re going to book an RV park that has wireless internet service, an amenity lacking at our LV Hotel. With my over-fondness for casinos, we need more structure and a few breaks from the zoo-like atmosphere of the hotels. Two more advantage to staying at an RV park includes having our car available, and our dog Sparky can join us. With transportation, we can visit other area attractions, including city spas, and outlet stores. In August, we noticed a number of Las Vegas RV Parks for Sale. Talking it over when we returned home, we realized that this would be a perfect business opportunity for people like us who like to travel and have retired from our jobs with the exception of some editing we can complete online. We feel as though investing in a Las Vegas RV Park is a dream comes true.

There are many reasons that RV Parks are successful in Las Vegas. Since our first trip there a decade ago, I discovered that Las Vegas has been transformed into a popular family vacation hub. Movie theatres, cyber cafes, kids’ game rooms, swimming, and miniature golf are just a few o the activities available for children and teenagers. The expense of staying in a hotel for the family’s week-long vacation is often prohibitive. That’s why RV parks are the perfect solution. When we begin looking at the Las Vegas RV Parks for Sale, we’ll be looking at nearby activities for kids, types of public transportation such as the Deuce Bus, and the possibility of having several RVs available to rent.

The Las Vegas RV Parks for Sale offer perfect business opportunities for us. With more organizations, schools, women’s groups and families desiring to travel and take courses or work with Cirque du Soleil, RV parks are a skyrocketing business. Our son has already asked if he and his entourage can use our camper for a weekend in Las Vegas complete with a home basketball game at UNLV.

Performers in the many shows often prefer to live in an RV park. A solid investment opportunity, Las Vegas RV Parks for Sale offer some very attractive opportunities for those of us retiring from our career jobs and wanting to live in Las Vegas.

Hotel Chains on the Rise

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Hotel franchising could never be simpler. Investors are taking a minimum risk in hotel chains because franchisors do a lot of the leg work to help the company grow profitably.

The business model of each is an already defined system proven profitable. Support and assistance is given to investors because of the importance to be a success. Such assistance would include providing an architectural plan for building development to evaluations of progress to ensure the company is not faltering. The real estate aspect of beginning this business can be overwhelming. Franchisors are sure to provide investors any guidance needed. One may have to provide individual advertisement; however, this will be stated in the agreement.

International hotel chain ranking between 2006 and 2007 shows an increase in the number of hotels leading to a 2.5% average increase in rooms. Hotels included in this rating are Hilton Corp, Best Western, Marriott International and also those outside of the United States such as Accor at 2.3%, France, and Intercontinental HG at 3.5%, Great Britain.

Benefits of franchising international hotel chains are never ending. Group purchasing between franchisees allows for a discount when buying raw materials to supplies. Training is set up, great for those new in the industry, and a team is available to aide in any daily operation; bookkeeping, customer service, advertising, etc. The franchised company is set up to look exactly like the original, using all similar logos; allowing customers to feel it is the established brand they recognize.

This is helpful considering guests have a trust and comfort towards international hotel chains for their consistency. The quality of a hotel chain remains intact. Guests understand before booking exactly what to expect. Best Western provides more of a relaxing environment while the Hilton provides a variety of brands including upscale, mid-priced and more. No matter what the brand, one is able to make their choice easier by being aware of the hotels style.

An intercultural knowledge in the hotel industry enhances the ability to go beyond a specific area. With the spread of hotel chains internationally this aspect of the industry is indispensible. The Diversity Elite 60 showed that there was almost no difference between the first and 60th place. This proves many hotels have set a stronger importance on their diversity programs. A larger diversity program pens the doors to a wide location range and a higher amount of diverse guests; and, therefore, an increase in the number of guests total. In todays world a hotel chain must consider its diversity.

As for all investors, now is the time to begin in this growing industry when the population increases yearly and each countrys diversity expands. International hotel chain ranking will only go up. Who will hold onto the chain as it rises?

How to Franchise a Business

Friday, October 31st, 2008

If you know the thrill of successfully launching a lucrative business, you know that feeling is hard to top. However, knowing how to franchise a business can multiply your initial success, greatly increase your profits, and make your business idea famous across the globe. A successfully franchised business can be greatly satisfying and lucrative. There are however, three pitfalls to avoid in order ensuring that your franchise process is a boom instead of a bomb. First, research the existing franchises in your same market in order to determine whether the idea is tapped out. Second, make sure that the business is run in a manner that is easy to duplicate. Third and last, make sure that your franchise business will be profitable to all concerned.

A Saturated Market Wont Absorb You

No investor will be willing to invest in a franchise deal in an already tapped out market. For instance, selling fried chicken franchises would be almost impossible with KFC and Chick-Fil-A already successfully dominating the market. If you are going to sell chicken franchises, make sure your concept is original and targets a different market than existing similar franchises. If your business has similar competition, you might be able to diversify your products or find a niche that will make your business franchise able. Keep these ideas in mind in order to avoid a flop in your new franchise venture.

Simple Sells

In order to make your business accessible to potential franchisers, it is important to streamline your business concept and operating procedures and to make it as simple and straightforward as possible. Any advisor answering an owners questions about how to franchise a business will hammer on this point continually. In order for people to successfully manage your business idea, it must be easy to understand, replicate and run. The concept should be simple. The manuals should be succinct. The plan of execution should be clear. If your business does not currently meet these requirements, take some time to reorganize before you attempt to franchise. This will save you a lot of time and money over the long run and will save you from undue failure.

Prove the Profits

The third pitfall to avoid in learning how to franchise a business is the mistake of inviting an investor into a business that presents itself as a fiscal risk. You must be able to prove to your investors that they will be able to turn a profit with a franchise of your business. To do this, you must be able to cut production and start up costs. You must also research the various proposed franchise locations in order to ensure that your product will be able to attract a large client base. Before you offer your business for franchise possibilities, it is important to draw up proposed profit projection for franchised business branches as well as a detailed history of your own expenditures and profits. The documents should be easy to read and understand and should clearly demonstrate the profitability of the venture for all concerned.

A Guide to Being a Successful Franchisee

Friday, October 31st, 2008

If you are interested in starting up and managing your own business then franchising can be a good option. Statistics show that franchises are much less likely to suffer business failure than independent businesses. There are a number of reasons for this greater success. Advantages of owning a franchise include access to a proven business model, greater brand recognition and the benefits of being part of a network. When buying a franchise there are a number of things you should do to increase your chances of being a successful franchisee.

The first step to owning a successful franchise begins before you have made your investment. You first need to consider whether or not franchising is right for you. Despite the many advantages that franchising has it is not suitable for everyone. Although you will manage the day to day running of the business you will still have to answer to the franchisor and be subject to certain rules and restrictions. A further disadvantage is that any profits you make as the franchisee must be shared with the franchising company.

In the UK there are many different franchises that are available to buy. Before investing in a franchise it is essential that you consider the options and select a franchising opportunity that suits your skills and interests. This is where research is important. You need to choose a franchise that you can believe in and will be happy managing in the long term. If you are not comfortable running the franchise then it is less likely that you will be successful.

Unfortunately even if you choose the right franchise and continue to work hard there are still some occasions that are out of your control where your business may fail. If the franchising business fails then this will clearly have a knock on effect on franchisees. This further highlights the need to conduct as much research as possible before you invest in a franchise. If other franchisees within the franchise aren’t being run successfully then there is a chance that this will affect you. Successful franchises should have a rigorous selection process for new franchisees. If this is not the case then it is probably wise to invest elsewhere.

Once you have made your investment there is much work to be done. Being a franchise owner is a big responsibility with many jobs to take care of. If you become a franchisee you will be required to take care of hiring and firing, buying supplies and training employees. It is most likely that you will need to work long hours. If you are not committed to doing this when you buy the franchise then the chances are that the business will not be successful.

How to Franchise Your Own Business

Friday, October 31st, 2008

So you’ve started your own business, and it’s really started to grow. You are making good money, you have as many employees as you can handle, and you’re looking to expand. But you know that you aren’t able to be everywhere at once. How can you continue to expand your business without expanding your own workload and responsibility? The answer may be franchising, and this article will help explain how to franchise your own business.

What is franchising?

Franchising is when you permit other people to start their own businesses while using the name, brand, and logo of the company you own. Basically, they use your good name and the precedents you’ve set to go into business themselves, and in exchange for this they report to you and hand over a share of their profits, along with reporting to your central management. Some successful franchises include Wal-Mart and McDonald’s.

How to franchise your own business

Franchising is a common practice among modern businesses, and the first step is to find a corporate lawyer or service firm dedicated to franchising. There are numerous services throughout the country eager to help you in this regard, so it’s important to shop around for someone with a good track record. After all, you will need to establish a franchise which not only provides your customers with what they need, but provides potential entrepreneurs with the guidance and rules they need to succeed. There are also many issues to consider when turning a small, local business into a chain, and it’s important to have good legal and financial advice concerning your business and those of potential franchisees.

Is a franchise right for me and my business?

Not all businesses are meant to be franchises. Generally, businesses which offer products and services with wide appeal and require easy access make good franchises. While restaurants are the ultimate example (indeed, most fast food sold in America is sold from franchised businesses) businesses such as book stores, clothing outlets, and pet shops are also often franchises. While franchises do mean extra hassle and effort, they do offer benefits to those industries which are well suited to them. Wal-Mart, the largest franchise (indeed, the largest retailer in the world) raked in over 387.69 Billion in revenue in 2007, and McDonald’s earned over $22.79 billion. While of course it took many years and thousands of franchises to reach such high levels of revenue, the flexibility and transferability of responsibility offered by franchises ensure that they can expand quickly to meet consumer demand. Starbucks, for example, was able to quickly open many stores to meet demand through franchising, something and non-franchised business, dependent on placing and operating stores through a central authority.

Franchises are a great way to make your business grow. Not only do they offer you the opportunity to make more money by serving more customers in more locations, but they ensure that your stores are staffed by hard working, dedicated franchisees who are dedicated to making your business work.

How to Form a Franchise

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Your business has grown beautifully and you now have several satellite locations to serve a growing customer base. You’re facing the prospect of opening more satellites but that means finding new locations and new employees. The paperwork and taxes involved are a nightmare. You’re ready to release control of some of the responsibility of your business but you don’t like the idea of licensing your name. You want to protect your business name and be sure new partners will deliver the same service people have come to associate with your name. Franchising seems a good way to go but you have no idea how to form a franchise.

Before you look for franchisees give yourself the security of a plan. Determine if the potential earnings from franchising will support the network you’ll need to put in place. If the prospective profit margin is too narrow to support both you and the franchisee this may not be a good way to go.

Develop training material and programs in advance. Your business reputation depends on your franchisees being able to provide the same quality of service you do, so be ready to teach them how to do it. This is a major expense compare the cost against the prospective results in advance.

Contracts protect both you and the franchisee. You can attract quality franchisees with a fair contract to protect the partnership. Get your legal team in place before you look into how to form a franchise. You’ll save yourself tremendous expense.

The most common cause of franchise failure is greed. Once you start franchising and making money its easy to fall into the trap of growing too quickly. Plan your franchising options around your ability to offer support to your franchisees and your customer base. Plan how much growth and where you want that growth to occur before you begin.

Right now your head is already swimming with the details of doing business and the idea of doing all this planning before you even begin to learn how to form a franchise is frustrating. It will be worth it in the long run though. By planning your course before you start you’ll have a clearer idea of where you’re going and how long it will take you to get there. If you are doing enough business to consider franchising you should already have legal representation. You can give the task of contract preparation to them. You have an accountant give the job of planning for the future and weighing the pros and cons to them. A business manager or a good consultant is a good idea now if you don’t already have one.

Put your team to work. Give them a deadline and then have a meeting to discuss your options. Nothing in the world will aid your success in forming a strong franchise than a having a solid foundation to build on.

Battling the Cost of Car Wash Chemicals

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Most people find that it is necessary to maintain a clean car when they want to preserve a professional image. To have a clean car, however, one needs to have certain car watching chemicals on hand to complete the task. Knowing what type of chemicals you need, and where to obtain them can be quite a hassle, especially for those that want to save money on the cost of car wash chemicals. Thus, this article will address what sort of chemicals people may need for specific car watching tasks, and where they may obtain such chemicals at reasonable prices. For those of you that are franchise owners, we will also be discussing where one might be able to obtain these chemicals in bulk and at discount prices.

Before we get to the cost of car wash chemicals, we need to determine what sorts we require. If our main goal is to just give the car a basic cleaning, we will merely require some soap. However, if we are looking to give the car a more deep cleaning for added result, we will require some additional chemicals including detail sprays, polishes, wax, etc. the price of the chemicals will typically go up depending on how detailed you want your car wash to be.

With the sort of car wash we want to achieve in mind, we can now focus on purchasing the needed products. One option which consumers have is to buy these products at a local auto parts store. A benefit of doing is it that you have a large variety to choose from and can easily return any products that you are unhappy with. However, as many consumers know, the cost of car wash chemicals offered in these sorts of stores tends to be more expensive than those found in other places. One needs to remember that buying from other places, while easy on the wallet, can create problems in the future.

If purchasing from a local store is not an option for you, you can choose to make use of the internet. Online retailers of car wash chemicals tend to have much better prices and a bigger selection of products. While the cost of car wash chemicals on an individual basis may be low, you have to factor in the price of shipping, which, with the right number of products can be rather expensive. Also, remember that the products won’t be at your front door tomorrow morning. Shipping a typically takes two or three days, thus be ready to wait. We recommend you conduct adequate amounts of research on the retailer you choose to shop from online as you wouldn’t want to be the victim of a scam.

Franchise owners can make use of both the internet and traditional stores to find our supplies in bulk and at cheap prices. From a traditional store point of view, franchise owners can go to wholesale stores such as Costco to obtain their car washing products. They can save a significant amount of money while getting enough supplies to last them for a good amount of time. However, they will have to find a store that specializes in Washington applies. Otherwise, they might find the selection product limited. Many online stores offer items in bulk, however, as we mentioned before shipping costs can add up and often offset the savings which consumers seek through the internet. Thus, it is the responsibility of the franchise owner to weigh his or her options and see which route will save them the most money in the long run.

Shopping for call our supplies need not be as difficult as many people make it out to be. With the right knowledge and approach, anyone can obtain their wallet applies with ease and without spending ridiculous amounts of money.
