The Flores family came from humble beginnings. Argel Flores recounts memories of limited financial resources. The entire family immigrated to Dallas from Mexico City in 1980. They made ends meet by cleaning houses and offices, selling shoes and driving Dart busses in Dallas. Through hard work and perseverance Mr. and Mrs. Flores saved enough money to purchase a small car dealership. They grew this dealership over the period of 15 years, until it was sold in 2006 for a little under a million dollars.
They taught their three children the importance of hard work and the American dream. All of the children helped out with the family business and this created an entrepreneurial spirit in son, Argel. Argel wanted to own a business that he could build and he found his dream in a franchise business — Knockouts - Haircuts for Men.
Two of the Flores daughters are cosmetologists so naturally he gravitated toward a hair salon franchise. He looked at several options and chose the Knockouts concept because it was a new and fresh idea on a traditional and stable profession.
Argel says, “With the American dream that was instilled in me at a young age I never lost sight of what is possible if you work hard and stay focused, so with the financial help of my mother we decided to open a business together.” They are excited and optimistic about their Knockouts salon and its potential and are planning to open a total of three Knockouts in the city of Arlington.
Knockouts Arlington is celebrating a re-Grand Opening on Saturday, January 26 from 10 am to 5 pm, with a ribbon cutting at 1:30 pm.
