Passion for Franchising?

Passion definitely plays a role in the success of a desired goal. Passion drives people to accomplish what they want to do. It is also much more enjoyable succeeding in something you have a passion for. But, do you need a passion for the product or service of a franchise to succeed? No. A lot of people may want to pick a franchise because of a passion like animals. One may love animals and decide to buy a pet grooming franchise. However, this does not determine your success. To be honest, you will be doing more of the business aspect of the franchise than working with the product or service hands-on. This is why it is more important to have a passion to achieve a goal for being a franchisee, not so much the product. (more…)

Being The First Franchisee

Every franchise has to start somewhere and have someone be their first franchisee. It takes a very special person to be a first franchisee. This person has to be the kind of person that likes to take huge risks, who is bold, and flexible. A first franchisee is usually a true entrepreneur.

There are positives and negatives to being the first franchisee. The positive side is that you get much more attention than the upcoming franchisees. The negative is that you have to be the first one to go through it all and break the ice with the franchisor. (more…)

The restaurant will be the first of Pizza Fusion's national franchise expansion that kicked off in February. The company ranked number 157 on the Franchise Times Top 200 List, number 284 on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 and number 20 on the Printing Impressions 400. In addition, Entrepreneur ranked the company number 147 of America’s Top Global Franchises.

Pure Weight Loss is going out of business

In the competitive world of dieting, one of three Horsham-based weight-loss companies has taken an abrupt, mysterious fall.
The demise of Pure Weight Loss Inc. follows a split three years ago between two key business partners and a name change last summer. Pure Weight Loss was once part of LA Weight Loss Centers Inc., which still operates from the same office park.

In a terse statement, Pure Weight Loss said it would close Jan. 4 after 18 years because of “fierce competition from the Internet; the introduction of Alli, the over-the-counter weight-loss pill, and other commercial diet programs; combined with a difficult economic environment.” (more…)

Area stores show chain's new face

For one, the chain, founded at the Jersey Shore, is now owned by Lakewood, Colo.-based Einstein Noah Restaurant Group.

For another, although its stores sell almost two dozen varieties of bagels, the business’ emphasis is now on offering “quick-casual” service midway on the restaurant spectrum between fast-food restaurants and those eateries offering table service. The stores now sell sandwiches, soups and salads. Some also sell hot specialty drinks such as espressos and cappuccinos and frozen smoothies known as Chillerz. (more…)

Housing Slump? Not According to This Local Franchiser

This is retrenchment time in the housing industry, right?

Not everywhere, according to Doug Disney, founder of a Rancho Cordova-based tile chain that’s launching a national expansion, despite the foundering housing market.

His company, Tile Outlet, has 65 franchise stores — and 34 more set to open — in six Western states. Locally, there’re more than a dozen outlets between Auburn and Woodland.

And now Disney is pushing his concept across the country, planning to open supply warehouses in Houston and Massachusetts to serve prospective franchisees in those regions. (more…)

Captain D's Franchisee Goes Bankrupt

Memphis-based SERVE Holdings LLC, the largest franchisee in the country of Captain D's-brand restaurants, Thursday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, according to The Daily News Online, www.memphisdailynews.com.

SERVE owns 13 Captain D's in Memphis and another 13 in the Mid-South region. (more…)

Big Boy Restaurants Franchise

Running a Big Boy franchise takes entrepreneurial drive and commitment, prior restaurant experience preferred. It also takes a minimum of $750,000 met work and available investment equity of $450,000 per location. Multi-unit development operations are available in certain areas.

It takes 12-18 months minimum to open a Big Boy franchise. Franchise agreements are granted for 20 years, with an initial franchise fee of $40,000. Royalty fees are 4% of gross sales and marketing fees are 3% of gross sales.
