In Franchising, Image Is Everything; Rent-N-Go Franchise Philosophy
The relationship between a franchisor and franchisee is unique, seeking to blend the advantages of corporate America with the independent spirit of the entrepreneur. The most successful franchisors are the ones that focus, not on selling franchises, but creating successful independent franchisees through a win-win business relationship.
When you buy a franchise, whether it offers hamburgers, cell phones or custom wheels, you’re buying an image. And image is everything according to Jim Taylor, Vice President of Operations for RNG, LLC, franchisor of Rent’N Go custom wheels and tires.
“A positive image and reputation is most important to the future of our company. Without a solid image and good reputation, we really have nothing. We want our franchisees, employees, suppliers, investors, etc. to be proud to say they are involved with RNG. Focusing on positive qualities, and monitoring performance in line with those qualities, will go a long way toward building and maintaining solid win-win business relationships,” continues Taylor.
“The franchise agreement is the foundation for RNG’s business relationship philosophy and the starting point for a cooperative enterprise between RNG and the stakeholders of its growing chain of franchises. It serves as the fundamental guide that defines the roles played by each participant; clearly stating the distinct and mutual responsibilities and obligations of the Franchisee versus the Franchisor. As the relationship progresses and additional agreements are made, these too must be structured as win-win for each participant. This requires constant monitoring for continuous improvement, as well as communicating openly and regularly on all relevant issues. The air must be totally clear.”
“It simply boils down to doing what you say you will do. At RNG, we make that commitment to each of our stakeholders, and particularly to our franchisees,” concludes Taylor.
