Taco Del Mar's Quick Casual Mexican Restaurants Surf into Cincinnati

Taco Del Mar franchiseWith Dayton, Cincinnati and Lexington in mind, Anthony Wean staked his claim on a golden opportunity to develop the rapidly expanding, Baja-inspired restaurant concept, Taco Del Mar. After months of careful site selection and construction, Cincinnati’s first Taco Del Mar will open Nov. 9 at 10798 Montgomery Road, near Bethesda North Hospital at the intersection of Montgomery Road and I-275.

Wean is franchising his own restaurant location, and it will serve as a prototypical training store as his new franchisees take Taco Del Mar throughout the region.

Taco Del Mar is the perfect medium between fast Mexican and casual dining with fresh, made-to-order food and a fantastic value for the portions,” Wean said. “Montgomery Road brings us a perfect centralized location to introduce Taco Del Mar as we begin franchising; people are going to love the food quality and the surf atmosphere.”

Wean, a multi-unit Subway owner, is making a Taco Del Mar tidal wave from Lexington, Kentucky northward through Cincinnati and into the Dayton, Ohio market. His plan is to open 100 stores in the next 10 years. There are currently 272 Taco Del Mar units across North America.

Taco Del Mar features signature Mondo burritos showcasing slow-cooked and marinated meats such as braised chicken, carne asada steak and seasoned pork; platters; tacos; salads; kids’ meals and vegetarian/vegan offerings. All of its food incorporates high quality ingredients in a made-to-order presentation. The store decor sets the “beach” mood with beach-themed murals, thatched palapas, mounted sailfish, long board tabletops and lively background music. The Cincinnati location will be open daily; contact the restaurant at 513-469-9222 for hours of operation.

The quick casual restaurant chain was co-founded in Seattle in 1992 by brothers James and John Schmidt. Inspired by southern Baja, Mexico and coastal beach shacks that serve burritos and tacos, Taco Del Mar remains independent, unlike many “Mexi-fresh” restaurant concepts that are big burger owned.
