NOVUS Glass Promotes Quality during National Car Care Month

NOVUS Glass, the national company reputably known around the world as “The Windshield Repair Experts TM”, is recognizing National Car Care Month this April and has put a special focus on educating consumers on the importance of quality automobile care and maintenance.

National Car Care Month is a nationwide effort by businesses, civic groups, and government officials to focus motorists’ attention on taking care of their vehicles and driving them safely on the road, said Keith Beveridge, senior vice president of NOVUS Franchising, Inc. The company exemplifies the mission of the awareness month with its certified windshield repair and replacement technicians who believe quality makes all the difference.

In recognition of National Car Care Month, Beveridge suggests a few windshield maintenance tips:

* If you hear something hit your windshield, even if you do not see obvious damage, you should look it over carefully. Pay special attention to the black trim bands around the edges of the windshield and to the areas under the wiper blades. Often a small crack will go undetected and if left unrepaired, will grow and make replacement necessary.

* Keep your vehicle cool and avoid sudden temperature changes. Parking a car in the hot sun even during the winter may cause your windshield damage to crack out due to the different heat variables between the windshield and the metal in the car body. The glass and the metal in the car body both expand and contract at different rates. This can cause stress on the windshield which may cause even a small unrepaired damage to crack to release stress.

* Look over the windshield for sand blasting damage. Small rocks are hitting your windshield all the time as you drive, and over time and with escalating miles, a windshield will accumulate a lot of these small sand pits.
