Seattle smoothie company franchising into Portland
A health-conscious chain of smoothie franchises intends to open between 15 and 20 new locations by 2010.
Seattle-based Emerald City Smoothie Co. LLC announced plans to expand via franchises into Portland. The company shuns ice cream-based drinks in favor of ones blended from fresh fruits.
“We are incredibly excited to expand the concept into Portland and are delighted to introduce our wide variety of menu items to local customers,” said Jim Baskett, executive vice president of franchise development.
The chain targets busy individuals seeking healthful meal replacements and snacks. Stores are typically positioned in high traffic areas near health clubs and schools, as well as airports and corporate locations.
The company expects to expand by selling franchises.
